A Standard Disclosure includes the details of all spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer. Standard Disclosures are applicable to individuals entering certain posts e.g. Barrister, Pharmacist, controlled functions within a financial services company or where licences are required.

| When should I use this check? | The eligibility criteria for Standard and Enhanced Disclosures changed in October 2009. Whereas Standard Disclosures were suitable some roles working with vulnerable groups, this is no longer the case. Standard Disclosures will now be strictly for regulatory purposes. | Information returned | The copy of disclosure certificate posted to employers will include details of all spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer or state that there are none. Due to the potentially sensitive nature of the information contained within the disclosure certificate it should only be retained for as long as necessary (the CRB suggest 6 months after a recruitment decision has been made). Know Your Candidate will also produce a supplementary report which can be retained indefinitely which contains:

A Standard Disclosure is made on a CRB application form which Know Your Candidate will send to you along with guidance notes explaining how to complete the form. In addition, 3 pieces of original documentary evidence confirming the applicant's identity / address must be checked by employers prior to returning the form to Know Your Candidate for processing. |
